# Modes and sizing

Choose your copy mode, entry signals, trade sizes, and exposure limits.

Before you start a copy, decide **when to enter**, **how much to spend**, and **what should trigger a sell**.

![Comparison of Buy only, Auto sell and Copy sells](https://1024313129-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F19fy6z4ax7jX5gvABuYZ%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-221e6309bf7937bb254ea5f59cfe5131cb85c0b2%2Fcopy-modes.svg?alt=media)

## 1. Pick an exit mode

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Buy only" %}
**You manage exits.** Eligible caller buys can be copied, but sells remain your decision. Open **Positions** when you want to review or sell a holding.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Auto sell" %}
**Use your own exit plan.** Set take-profit and stop-loss levels for eligible copied positions. Check your exit rules before starting and after editing.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Copy sells" %}
**Follow the caller's exits.** Eligible verified caller sells can trigger sells for your corresponding position. Your existing guards and trade conditions still apply.
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

## 2. Choose which buys count

{% columns %}
{% column %}

### All trades

Follow qualifying caller buys that meet your setup and risk limits.
{% endcolumn %}

{% column %}

### Callouts only

Only follow qualifying buys linked to a callout within the displayed time window.
{% endcolumn %}
{% endcolumns %}

A callout message by itself is not a buy. We need an eligible caller trade before a copy can execute.

## 3. Set your buy amount

Choose the sizing option shown in your setup, then apply a **Max buy** or **Max invested in this caller** cap where offered. Review how the amount is calculated before you start.

{% hint style="info" %}
Your buy can differ from the caller's. Market movement, available SOL, trade limits, slippage and price impact all affect whether a buy is placed or skipped.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://callgraph.gitbook.io/callgraph-docs/copy-trading/modes-and-sizing.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
